Whiskey Maple Mustard Brussels
Prep time: Cook time: Total time:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb bacon
- 12 oz Brussels sprouts trimmed & cut in half
- 1/4 small diced red onion
For the sauce
- 1/3 cup sugar free maple syrup (I use ChocZero Maple Syrup. Save 10% on your order using code KETONOMIC at checkout!)
- 1/4 cup French's yellow mustard
- 1 Tbs whiskey
Instructions:
- Cut the bacon into 1/4 inch strips and fry up on medium heat until crispy
- Remove the bacon, set aside, and add the Brussels to the pan. Try not to move them too much so they have a chance to caramelize.
- When the Brussels are about halfway through cooking and have a nice color to them, scoot them to the side and add the diced onion.
- Cook the onion, occasionally stirring until the onions become lucid. Then add the French's mustard, ChocZero maple syrup, and whiskey. Stir to create a sauce, adding a tsp of water at a time if it appears too thick.
- Stir the sauce into the Brussels and top with the crispy bacon!
Notes:
Serve this alongside a lean piece of meat for more robust, protein packed meal!
